How long to braces take, and what kind of time commitment does orthodontic treatment require? If you’re a busy adult who has put off getting braces because of worry about the treatment time, we have good news: orthodontic treatment with braces and Invisalign can be much faster than you think.
While the traditional rule has been that braces and other orthodontic treatment for adults lasts anywhere between 12-24 months, this timeframe has gone out the window with advancing technology. In fact, with most of the recent advances in orthodontics, you can actually finish your treatment up to twice as fast.
I was one of the pioneers of the first accelerator technologies known as Propel. This groundbreaking advancement in orthodontics has allowed more people to seek treatment since they can finish faster than typical braces would take.
What is Propel and How Does it Impact Treatment with Braces or Invisalign?
Propel is a technology that “fast tracks” orthodontic treatments for both braces and Invisalign clear aligners. This exciting technology allows us to finish their treatment with braces or Invisalign in about half the time.
We recommend this treatment to many of our patients, especially those who are in a hurry to finish!
One of the things patients love about Propel is deciding whether the in-office or at-home option is better for them.
There are 2 ways you can get Propel:
- In the office, which means that during some of your appointments, we will perform a short procedure to accelerate the movement of your teeth.
- At home, with a device that you use for about 5 minutes a day. The benefits are that it will reduce orthodontic pain, fast track retention so your teeth stay in the right position, and stimulate bone generation and remodeling. If you’re using Invisalign, Propel technology at home will help your aligners seat more efficiently.
What does all this mean?
It means you’ll be able to finish your orthodontic treatment in up to half the time. It also means your treatment with braces or Invisalign should go more smoothly, and your teeth will move more easily.
Is Propel safe and Effective for Faster Treatment with Braces and Invisalign?
The Propel treatment has been proven very safe and effective for patients receiving treatment with Invisalign or traditional braces.
We also find that patients have a better overall experience with their orthodontic treatment when they take advantage of this accelerator technology. This is the future of orthodontic treatment, and we are excited to be leading the way with the most cutting edge solutions.
Just like with any orthodontic treatment, it’s important to find a provider with a high skill level for the procedure you are considering.
I have been a part of the Clinical Advisory Board for Propel since its early days in the market. This has allowed me to stay current on the effectiveness and safety of this exciting technology.
I have a lot of patients who were worried about the time commitment of orthodontics, and they found that by using Propel, they were able to achieve the perfect smile they’ve always wanted on a schedule that works for their lifestyle. I’m thrilled to offer this technology to my patients — it truly transforms their experience with orthodontics!
